What is ART?

A varying answer from person to person. Subjective to the highest degree. In my process I have come to notice that the pieces I usually think may be absolute messes turn out to be the most impactful. Since Art is subjective what good does it do to place weight on someone elses’ judgement of that work. It either speaks to that person or it doesn’t. I have learned it is meant to speak to the person it is meant to be with. Héda Rose

Why Pay $15 Million for a White Canvas? Article by Leonid Bershidsky

On the week of November 14, 2014, a canvas by Robert Ryman sold for $15 million at an auction creating a milestone in history on white-on white painting.

Was it just the color? Or was it a feeling? In my painting ‘Jupiter’ I set out to do another Abstract painting, or so I thought. The paint flew off of my brush before I could even attempt the word stop. It took the form a face or something that could be found in a sea in Jupiter, if there is any such thing. I had learned from previous paintings like Life In Motion to trust my insticts and to respect the images that emerge. I got past my shame of possibly wasting another good canvas with my goof ups and perceived mistakes and just trust that Art is subjective and no one really has a position to judge that, including myself.
